It’s one thing to invite a bunch of colleges and students to a Zoom meeting and call it a college fair. It’s quite another to custom build a virtual college fair platform that mimics the in-person experience while adding resources and capabilities that you don’t get at a traditional fair. We went with the second option. A much heavier lift, but totally worth it. During the fair, students engage colleges via messaging and video chat (group and/or 1:1), download
information, and participate in educational sessions. And virtual college fairs have a longer lifecycle than in-person fairs, so colleges can fill their booths with videos, presentations, and other content that highlights their awesomeness, which students can view long after the live fair has ended. All activity during and after the fair, by the way, is tracked and analyzed. Are you starting to see that analytics are our jam?
Virtual Lobby
The virtual lobby is the first stop in the virtual college fair venue. Students can search or scroll through the list of participating colleges, college presentations, and educational sessions and make a plan for the fair.
College Fair
This is the virtual exhibit floor, where students can visit each college’s virtual booth and “favorite” the ones they like most. They can engage schools in one-on-one or group formats, ask questions, watch videos, share files, and even apply on the spot.
Educational Sessions
Students can view product- and college-agnostic content, live or pre-recorded, on a wide range of topics, from finding scholarships and financial aid, to improving their college search, to career opportunities in specific areas of study.
College Presentations
These sessions are hosted and created by the colleges, and they appear both in the college booth and in the virtual lobby, so they’re easy to find. Presentations and media can be hosted live or on-demand. Students can “favorite” this content for later viewing.

There are certain data security standards that must be followed to collect student data. We blow way past the minimum requirements of state and federal regulations, and even international regulations like GDPR, to keep data protected and private.
